REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian government has again condemned acts of violence and detention of Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 volunteers bound for the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces on May 19, 2026, which were judged to be in violation of international law. Foreign Minister Sugiono, in Tangerang on Sunday (24/5/2026), said the actions against volunteers and humanitarian activists were a violation of international law.

“This is a violation of international law because civil society is running humanitarian aid to the Palestinians,” he said.

He insisted that such actions that degrade the dignity of humanity must not be repeated and must be stopped immediately.

According to Sugiono, the mission undertaken by the GSF volunteers was a humanitarian activity to help Palestinians in Gaza and not an unlawful act.

“This is an action that must not be repeated,” he said.

Sugiono also said the Indonesian government managed to repatriate nine Indonesian nationals (WNI) participants of the GSF 2.0 cruise who were briefly detained by Israeli authorities.

He said the success was not in spite of the support of various parties, including the governments of friendly countries, particularly the Turkish Government.

“We extend our appreciation to all the participants who participated in this humanitarian mission,” he said.

Nine WNI participants of the GSF 2.0 cruise arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Sunday afternoon, after undergoing the repatriation process from Israel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with representatives of the Republic of Indonesia conducted the evacuation as a form of protection for Indonesian citizens.

The women were flown using Emirates airline from Istanbul to Dubai on Saturday (23 May) at 19:35 local time.

Next, they continued their flight from Dubai to Jakarta on Sunday (24/5) at 04.10 and arrived in Indonesia at 15.30 WIB.
