REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Persija Jakarta director Mohamad Prapanca has revealed that the Kemayoran Tigers are willing to accommodate Indonesian national player Ivar Jenner, whose contract with FC Utrecht is due to expire in June 2026. Ivar has decided not to extend his contract with Utrecht after he has not broken into the main squad this season, and his playing minutes have decreased in the second team of Jong FC Utrecht.

“Turn again, to strengthen the squad, (the decision) is not in me. Again, if that's what coach (Mauricio Souza) needs (Ivar) to strengthen the squad, then why not. We are always open as far as we are still on track with our financial budget,” Prapanca said after attending Persija's signing ceremony with Terengganu FC at Persija Office, South Jakarta, Friday (28/11/2025).

Ivar was expected to break into the main squad last season after being a starter 25 times out of a total of 26 he played for Jong FC Utrecht last season. However, the situation for the Indonesian midfielder has been difficult this season after failing to break through Utrecht's main squad, which plays in the top tier of the Dutch league.

Utrecht's current head coach, Ron Jans, doesn't believe in Ivar. His playing minutes at Jong FC Utrecht declined as he only made four starts from 13 games.

“My situation at the club (FC Utrecht) for now is a little different. This is my last season at the club. And, I'm still in the second club. So, I did not extend my contract,” Ivar said after strengthening the Indonesia U22 team in a test match against Mali U22 that ended 2-2 at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor, on Tuesday (18/11/2025).

On the same occasion, Prapanca said Persija were very open to adding new players in the middle of the season if indeed it was really needed by coach Souza, including recruiting Ivar.

If Persija gets Ivar, then the 21-year-old midfielder will become the sixth diaspora player to choose a career in the highest competition in the country. The top five players were Thom Haye, Eliano Reijnders, Rafael Struick, Jordi Amat, and Jens Raven.

“Of course this dynamic is still on track, I am sure that the head coach is trying his best where his target is to become champion and of course he will try to complement which positions he is likely to consider adding or replacing,” Prapanca said.

Currently, Persija is in the second place of the provisional standings with 26 points. This Friday night, they will play the 14th match of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 at Gelora Bung Karno Utama Stadium, Jakarta, against PSIM Yogyakarta.
