Welcoming the Turn of the Year, Prabowo Invites Disaster Victims to Pray Together

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOUTH TAPANULI -- President Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto spent New Year's Eve 2026 at Batu Hula Village, Batang Toru District, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra (Sumut) on Wednesday (31/12/2025). At the turn of the year, he invited him to pray with residents in the disaster affected areas.

Amid a simple atmosphere, Prabowo was present directly with the community, extending prayers, and strengthening hopes for recovery and a better future. It was seen that Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, and  Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Letkol Inf Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied Prabowo.

Without festive celebrations, New Year's Eve is filled with reflection and togetherness. Prabowo mingled with citizens, greeted children, and dialogued with affected families, creating a warm atmosphere that affirmed the country's presence among its people.

Prabowo was also approached by a number of children who were victims of the disaster. He stroked them while chatting for a while.

Then, Prabowo invited the surrounding community to pray. “Of course, we pray constantly that the Almighty will give the best for us. We face difficulties, we face disasters, we face challenges. But we have to keep our spirits up, we have to keep strong, firm our souls,” Prabowo said.

He also delivered meaningful New Year's greetings and prayers to the people. "Happy New Year, 2026, may the Almighty always give us all the best," said Prabowo.

The collective prayer on New Year's Eve served as a symbol of solidarity and mutual cooperation. Amidst the limitations caused by the disaster, Prabowo's presence conveyed a message emphasizing the government's continued support for the people, not only in physical recovery but also in strengthening their spirituality and spirit of togetherness as they look forward to 2026.
